As President Donald Trump embarks on his second term, his foreign policy approach appears to be a blend of assertive nationalism and some strategic realignment. While some critics will label his actions as isolationist, I don't think he is...

One of the most notable shifts is Trump's stance on international alliances. His administration has reduced U.S. foreign aid by over 90%, redirecting resources toward some domestic priorities. MAGA supporters and Republicans contend that this move eliminates inefficiencies and reduces the risk of mismanagement in overseas assistance programs.

In the Middle East, Trump's approach has been equally unconventional. His visit to Saudi Arabia marked a significant shift in U.S. foreign policy in the region, with Trump pledging to no longer give "lectures on how to live."

Perhaps the most controversial aspect of Trump's foreign policy is his proposal for the Gaza Strip. In February 2025, he declared his intent for the United States to take over administrative control of Gaza, aiming to redevelop it into the "Riviera of the Middle East." The plan would involve the forced displacement of approximately 2 million Palestinians, a move that has been met with widespread condemnation from various nations and organizations.

While some view these actions as a necessary recalibration of U.S. foreign policy, others see them as reckless and detrimental to global stability. As President Trump continues to redefine America's role on the world stage, the long-term implications of his policies remain to be seen.

So is he really isolationist? I don't think so. Trump really engages himself (quite heavily) into foreign policy - with him claiming to constantly stop any conflicts. This is actually a rather big departure from traditional MAGA republicans who prefer not to engage in such conflicts at all. So is he really isolationist? No!
